The Canvas Hack Extension now works on McGraw Hill Connect
The same extension you use on Canvas quizzes now reads Connect homework, Connect quizzes and SmartBook. Press the small icon under a question and the answer drops in right there. No second tab, no screenshots, no typing the question into a chatbot.
One extension, two homework sites
You do not need a new tool for McGraw Hill. The Canvas Hack Extension you already have in Chrome got an update, and the McGraw Hill reader comes with it. Your login and your plan carry over, so a subscriber pays nothing extra.
On Connect it works in the assignment player, the page where Connect homework and quizzes open (its address starts with ezto.mheducation.com). On SmartBook it works on the practice questions between readings. McGraw Hill support is in beta, so tell us at support@canvasquiz.com if a question does not get an answer.
Set it up on McGraw Hill in under a minute
You switch it on once per site, and Chrome remembers it after that.
- Add it to Chrome and pin it. It is free to add, and you get free answers to try it.
- Open a Connect assignment or a SmartBook. Use the normal link from your course.
- Press the extension icon in the toolbar, then tap "Keep it on for this site". Chrome asks one time for that site. After that it is on for every assignment there.
- Press the small icon under a question. The answer appears right under it. In SmartBook it sits above the High, Medium and Low buttons.
Discreet mode is on out of the box: a small icon and the answer in plain text, so the page looks almost the same as before.
Also new: the Canvas Hack Extension on ALEKS and on Pearson MyLab.
What it reads on Connect and SmartBook
Most of the question types you see in a week of McGraw Hill homework are covered.
Connect homework and quizzes
- Multiple choice, true or false, yes or no
- Check all that apply
- Fill in the blank and numeric, math included
- Matching and ranking
- Short answer and essay
SmartBook
- Multiple choice and true or false
- Multi-select
- Fill in the blank
- Matching
- Ordering
Why an extension beats a second tab on McGraw Hill
Connect changes the numbers in many questions for each student, so an answer list someone shared online often does not match your version. A chatbot in another tab means copying the question across, and Connect quiz pages can turn off the right-click menu. That leaves screenshots and retyping, one question at a time.
The extension reads the question that is on your page now, with your numbers in it, and puts the answer under it. You never leave the assignment, and there is nothing to copy.
It shows the answer. You make the move.
Auto-answer bots fill in a whole assignment and click Submit for you. This extension does not. It shows the answer, and you pick it, type it or drag it, then submit when you are ready. In SmartBook you still press the confidence button yourself. That way you check each answer before it counts. Answers come from AI and can be wrong, so give each one a quick look.
Where it stays off
Proctored exams: on a Proctorio or similar exam, nothing shows on the page and the popup says "Not available on proctored exams."
Not supported yet: Connect worksheets (multi-part accounting and algorithmic problems), the accounting tool, external tools, surveys, document upload and the older Connect player. On those the extension says "This question type isn't supported yet." instead of a guess.
One plan for Canvas and McGraw Hill
There is no separate McGraw Hill plan. Unlimited covers Canvas quizzes, Connect and SmartBook together, with a 7-day money-back guarantee, and you can cancel anytime.
$14.99 a month, or $48.99 every 4 months for a whole semester
McGraw Hill questions
Is this a separate McGraw Hill extension?
No. It is the Canvas Hack Extension, updated. One install and one plan cover Canvas, McGraw Hill Connect and SmartBook.
Does it fill in or submit answers for me?
No. It shows the answer under the question. You pick it and submit it yourself, and in SmartBook you still press High, Medium or Low.
Does it work on proctored McGraw Hill exams?
No. On a proctored exam nothing shows on the page, and the popup says "Not available on proctored exams."
Does it work on accounting worksheets?
Not yet. Connect worksheets and the accounting tool are not supported in this beta. The extension says so on the question instead of guessing.
Can I try it for free?
Yes. Adding it to Chrome is free and you get free answers to try it on a real assignment. Unlimited is $14.99 a month or $48.99 every 4 months.
